Kids Holiday Craft Sessions
What are Kids Holiday Craft Sessions?
These are kids craft workshops that run throughout the year, not just holidays. They make a fun birthday activity alternative, or provide you with 1.5 hrs of peace during the holidays when you can't bear to hear "I'm bored!" one more time. They're also great for siblings to spend quality time together, or a fun activity to do when friends sleep over.
We run a calendar booking system, allowing you to pick a date and time that works for you. You pick which activity they do from the list.
Where are these workshops held?
We host our kids holiday craft sessions in our studio in Kintore, Aberdeenshire.
What age must my child be to attend a kids holiday craft session?
Our Kids Holiday Craft Sessions are suitable for P1+ kids. We don’t normally mix primary and secondary school kids in our regular after school classes, however our holiday craft sessions and private classes are open to both.
How big are these sessions?
These sessions cater from individuals to small groups up to 6 siblings or friends.
What do they need to bring with?
These sessions include all materials. They can bring a water bottle along, but please keep the juice and snacks at home. Sticky juice spills and yarn don't go well together.
What will they learn?
We provide 8 different activities to choose from when booking.
- Knit Stitches: a choice of a snake or a rose. They will learn to cast on, knit a couple of rows, and cast off.
- Crochet Chains: a choice of a bracelet, flower, or spider. They will learn to crochet the chain stitch.
- Felt Fun: keychain. They will learn to wet felt a ball from fluff.
- Finger Knitting: a choice of a flower, butterfly or snake. They will learn to knit with just their fingers and yarn.
- Weave-a-Critter: a choice of an owl, fish, or hedgehog. They will learn to warp a loom and plain weave.
- Braid-a-Bunch: friendship bracelets. They will learn 'fill the gap' braiding on a disk loom.
- Sew Softly: a choice of an elephant, bird, owl, or fish plushie. They will learn to sew a felt plushie and how to sew on buttons.
- Weaving Wonders: wall hanging. They will learn a couple of different weaving techniques, including how to warp a loom and plain weaving.
What about safety?
We are delighted when your child joins us for a craft workshop, so your child’s safety is of utmost importance to us. For this reason we have drawn up some Safety Rules for them to follow to ensure they have a good time in class. Please take a moment to go through them with your child before they arrive for their session.
For your child’s safety and for the safety of other children in the class, any child who behaves in a disruptive or dangerous way won’t be allowed to continue. Children excluded for these reasons won’t receive a refund for missed classes.
Can I watch my child in class?
You have the option to drop off and run an errand, or take a seat on our comfy couch.
What happens if I'm running late to pick up?
Craft sum More is not responsible for your child out with class times. Your child should arrive on time (not early) and should be collected on time. If the person who is collecting your child is going to be a few minutes late, please let us know as soon as possible. Where a child is not collected from a class after 15 minutes, Social Services will be called to take responsibility for the child.
Are you insured?
All teachers hold current PVG Certificates and are fully insured. We carry out risk assessments at all our venues. However our teachers DO NOT have first aid certificates. If you are at all concerned that your child might get into medical difficulties because of serious allergies, asthma or other medical conditions, they should not come to the class.
I can't find the answer to my question. What do I do?
No problem. Please feel free to contact us via the website or email info@craftsummore.com direct.
